Column'We don't need any extra motivation for a Merseyside derby at Anfield'
In her latest column, Liverpool FC Women interim head coach Amber Whiteley looks ahead with anticipation to Sunday's Merseyside derby against Everton at Anfield.
We were frustrated not to take all three points against Tottenham. We were disappointed to concede two quick goals in the first half after a promising start.
I thought the response to going 2-1 down was good and we played some nice football in the second half. We had much better control in possession and looked threatening at times, but we lacked the quality needed in the final third.

Watch on YouTubeSophie Roman Haug netted twice, both from set-plays, where she is such a big threat. Her aerial dominance is so difficult for opposition to deal with, especially in dead-ball situations.
It was brilliant for Sophie to be back in the team and get the two goals, I was really pleased for her. She works so hard in training every day and always gives absolutely everything every time she puts on the shirt.
Taylor Hinds made her 100th league appearance for the club on Sunday, an incredible achievement. To do that in a relatively short space of time shows how important she is to this team.
Our thoughts have now turned to Sunday’s Barclays Women’s Super League derby with Everton at Anfield (kick-off 12pm BST).
It is our final home game of the season and we want to make it a special one for our fans and give them a performance they can really enjoy.
It’s a game we are really looking forward to; we haven’t beaten Everton in the league since 2019 so there is everything to play for on Sunday.
We can’t wait to play at Anfield again. It was important to get that first win there against Manchester United and we took huge confidence from that result and our performance.
Everton have been in good form since Christmas and they always raise their game against us so we have to be ready for that.
This is a Merseyside derby and I expect us to go into this game needing no extra motivation and prepared to give everything to win the fight.
YNWA,
Amber
